JJ Productions Interview

Julio Cruz is one of those veterans of the game that promotes only those special events that garner the respect and admiration of the Latino people. JJ Productions has been doing this for a very long time. With an upcoming Concert called 'Explosion Salsera' and a plethora of other events right now and on the way, Julio Cruz has taken time out of his busy schedule to talk to CorrienteLatina.com about his life and his upcoming 'Explosion Salsera' concert that is already slated to be the best Salsa Music Concert of 2008. So here we go!


CorrienteLatina.com: For those that might not know who or what JJ productions is, tell the people about yourself.

JJ Productions: My name is Julio Cruz better known as JJ. I have been involved in the music industry for more than 20 years. I emphasize in high quality productions including concerts, shows and festivals. I also promote artists for every kind of event that has to do with Latin music nationally and worldwide.



CorrienteLatina.com: JJ Products is considered "The Monster" in promoting shows and Events. How did JJ Productions come about?

JJ Productions: I grew up in the music world as my father was in the music industry and had clubs in Puerto Rico. Later.. I moved to Tampa where I brought artists with such caliber as Mark Anthony, Tito Nieves, India, El Gran Combo, Elvis Crespo, Sonora Poncena, Olga Tanon, Jerry Rivera, Tito Rojas, Tito Nieves, Frankie Ruiz, Eddie Santiago, Luis Enrique, in short almost every salsa and merengue artist and band. I have always had great respect for them and they know that my word is very strong. Every artist that I represent knows that I give 100% of my time and dedication to them and that I will do anything in my power to ensure that they obtain the treatment and earnings they deserve.



CorrienteLatina.com: You are known for bringing some of the best performers together on the same stage. is that diffult to do?

JJ Productions: It is not that hard once you have the preparation and dedication. I understand that I have a responsibility with the public and the artist. I am also prepared with a great team who dedicate their time and efforts to provide an excellent show.



CorrienteLatina.com: We met through a mutual friend; DJ Apaza, he is a really good guy who has done alot for me and Corrientelatina.com. How did you meet Apaza, and what is your relation with him?

JJ Productions: Apaza contact me once he found out about the even as he is the manager for Van Lester.. From then on, we became good friends and we believe that we are going to be working together for a long time as he also has a passion for the music and has shown me that he works very hard to obtain his goals.



CorrienteLatina.com: There is a concert you are promoting in Kissimmee, FL called 'Explosion Salsera' what made you think of bring 30+ artists under one roof in what is already being called the Best Salsa concert of 2008?

JJ Productions: As a producer I wanted to come back due to the fact that I was out of the music industry for a short while. I contacted all the artists involved who were more than happy and cooperative to put together this huge event which is going to make history. They have always have been there for me and I think that the magnitude of this event will help them and the salsa genre in the long run. We want to show the world that the Salsa is still alive and stronger than ever. “La Salsa Vive”




CorrienteLatina.com: Who are some artists that will be performing at La Explosion Salsera?

JJ Productions: There are a lot of artists that where not able to participate due to previous engagements and contracts, nevertheless we have already contracted huge starts such as Hector Tricoche, Paquito Acosta, Paquito Guzman, Charlie Cruz, Chamaco Rivera, Bobby Concepcion, Roberto Blades, Lefty Perez, Anthony Cruz, Primi Cruz, Vitti Ruiz, Aris Martinez, Manolo Lezcano, Jerry Galante, Von Marie, Mario Feliciano, Pedro Conga, Edgar Joel with Anthony Colon, Joe Lopez, Ommy Cardona, Mario Feliciano, Johnatan (ex sonbyfour), Ray de la Paz, David Pabon, Kevin Ceballo, and Danny Sanchez. I hope I didn’t forget anyone. jeje



CorrienteLatina.com: Any surpise guest that you can mention?

JJ Productions: Yes, but if I tell you then it wont be a surprise anymore..



CorrienteLatina.com: How can people find more information on this concert?

JJ Productions: The concert is going to be held at the Kissimme Civic Center in Kissimme Fl.on February 2, 2008. Doors will open at 2:00pm and the show will start at 4:00pm and end aprox at 12:00 am. The number to call for tickets is 407-935-1412 or can call 754-244-3045 for more information.

JJ Productions: The upcoming events will be larger and with more intensity. So get ready because “The Monster” JJ “el Original” is back and bigger than ever.
